Ghost was born in the later years of the Ancient World in a small forest community of elves. The forest was dense and almost impossible to traverse; only Ghost's village knew the secrets of the forest. Ghost was a wild child, using her powers of invisibility freely to mess with her community. She started learning archery from her mother when she was young, and she loved venturing out into the forest on her own to practice her skills.
On one such venture, Ghost happened upon a small child around her age watching her from a pile of dry and burnt branches. The child didn't speak, but they quickly became friends as they played in the forest. The child was a natural at moving through the trees, effortlessly jumping from branch to branch. When night fell, Ghost brought the child back to her village where they were welcomed into the community. As the village slumbered, the child slowly crept towards the empty fireplace in Ghost's house. When they touched their hand to the wood a flame slowly began to rise. Ghost woke to the smell of smoke and walked out of her room to find the child consumed by the flame. Panic filled the air as the fire spirit began to consume the village in their insatiable hunger. Ghost went to wake her mother, but the door to her room was blocked by the fire. In her panic, an invisible Ghost ran into the forest, the safest place she knew. She hid in a hollow full of ferns created by intertwined tree roots, watching the fire light up the world through the trees. Eventually, after the fire died down and the night turned eerily quiet, Ghost drifted off to sleep.
As Ghost slept, the plants were slowly drawn to her magic. Ferns began to encircle her body and lichen spread to cocoon her. She slept for decades, her body perfectly preserved as the world changed around her. She eventually woke again in the early decades of the New World, still 12 years old. Her forest remained unchanged. She was unaware of the passage of time until she came to her village, which sprouted with new life. The ruins of the buildings were covered in vines and thick growth, concealing the tragedy that had occurred so long ago. Ghost picked her way over to the remnants of her house, where she found her bow, quiver, and lyre also perfectly preserved by the ferns. She gathered the few resources she could salvage, mainly fabrics, and left her village behind in the hopes of finding other survivors. For the next ten years she wandered the forest like a ghost that hadn't been laid to rest. Occasionally travellers would make their way into her forest in the hopes of mapping the impossibly terrain. Ghost would silently watch them, learning small bits about the outside world. She would guide the lost out of the forest and deter anyone who tried to take too much.
She joins Aarne, Sam, and Cory as an archer in their quest to save the continent from the destructive rule of the fire spirit which has possessed the queen. She is fully introduced to the New World, and she eventually comes to the crashing realisation of how much time had truly passed since her era. She enjoys Cory's enthusiasm in learning her ancient knowledge, and is fascinated by the well of knowledge they have on healing practices. Ghost is initially wary of Aarne as some part of her senses the dark spirits lying dormant in his body. She enjoys Sam's liveliness, feeling a kindred spirit to her childhood self, and the two often play their instruments together around the campfire.
